I have one that the radio and antenna is in a mag mount that is place on the roof of a car or boat.
The speaker/mike and controls are on the other end of a cable along with a plug for the 12 V car accessory jack.
Increases the mobile range.
At one time a external power source was not allowed on FRS radios, batteries only.
Now days everyone is buying the FRS/GMRS radios and breaking all the rules.
Many Hams are programing the Chinese HT.s to Ham frequencies and GMRS/FRS frequencies.
Many ex CB,ers do not believe in going by the rules.

BOB
Your right,
Your not stretching the rules or breaking them. Listening has nothing to do
with the rules, and also placing it on the roof. It's only the power
exceeding the power, and the mode of transmission.
