Not realistic for 2 reasons.

1) Message latency cannot provide any meaningful useful information that changes as much as tens of degrees per minute.  By the time you get a message saying it is NE, it might already be SE.

2) We do not want Messages and all their ACKS and overhead cluttering our networks with such a message burden of tracking a satelite across the sky.  

ANyone who even casually does satellites understands the geometry of a pass.  All he needs to know is the starting azimuth, and the MaxEL angle and direciton of movement to have an idea of its workability with his omni antenna.
