I had quite a few failures the first year they were available, but
reliability has been a lot better since. In winter, it takes a few
seconds for them to come on, but 13W instead of 100W makes
it worth it for me. I have never had any RFI from them. I can
sympathize with those that do get RFI though. I don't know if it's
a matter of the brand they are using, or ungrounded wiring or
what. Recycling isn't a problem here either. Moving to CFLs
was part of my overall plan to come up with an affordable back
up power system that can keep the radios - including everything
for APRS - running during the outages from winter storms.
