I believe that if you just do something like this:

   $ rfcomm bind /dev/rfcomm0 00:30:04:0C:C9:E6

then you will have it connected.  You might then try:

   $ stty -F /dev/rfcomm0 4800 raw
   $ cat /dev/rfcomm0
