That's an alpha source, not much good for most detectors.  Not sure if
anyone sells thoriated lantern mantles anymore.  My main test source is a
chunk of pitchblende (naturally occurring and not subject to licensing) that
registers about 30,000 cpm.

Nope.. Now that they have a non-radioactive version they all proudly
announce that they are non-radioactive.

When they were radioactive, all they said was not to breathe the dust.
