I recognize that. I like mini-DIN connectors, but I don't like to
solder them. To avoid the pins from moving in the (half)melted plastic
you can do the following .
- get a potato... any kind, but not too small :)
- cut of a slice to create a flat area and place the potato on your your
workbench (flat side down)
- push the mini-DIN pins in the potato
- now solder the wires to mini-DIN pins.
The potato helps cooling the connector a bit, and also prevents the pins
from moving when the plastic starts to melt.
