I leave my TNCs in KISS mode for years.  The MFJ-120B won't stay in KISS mode 
for more than a day or two.  I think on-air control characters pop it out.  
The KPC3 (not 3+, thank goodness) on the mountain has been power cycled a 
dozen times in the last 2 weeks during installation/testing, and stays in KISS 
mode.  My MFJ-1278 has been in KISS mode for 10 or 12 years, through 2 moves 
and countless power cycles, and has never popped out.
