Absolutely.  A great way for those folks running laptop mobile/portable.
And since the input frequency would be full duplex on another frequency, the
mobile-to-APRS-IS link would be very clear too.  Yes, this is a great way to
run APRS.

But on the other hand, I'd say that 96% of all APRS mobiles these days do
not carry laptops but simply use an APRS radio with GPS display.  In that
case, most users would not dial into this channel, because it would fill
their radio lists instantly with so much out-of-area spam as to completely
mask the local situational awareness that the radio front panel was designed
to give.
