My error - he did say FRS and I was thinking GMRS bubble-pack radios. I bought a pair of FRS talkies and they are long gone somewhere - just don't get out. I agree they are an incentive to upgrading - much sooner than later.

There is no licensing requirement for FRS.
AND, using FRS HTs like this can be a motivation for those without
Amateur Licenses to get their own. Sooner than later, FRS users will
grow weary of the limitations.
