One would hope that the desired action would be for someone to phone
the holder of the callsign or knock on his door. Tire irons should be an
absolute method of last resort.

I participated in a fox hunt here on 144.390 MHz yesterday. In this case,
it was a broken 8 pin MIC connector shorting the PTT to ground rather than
a clueless beacon. I was successful in tracking it down. That was satisfying,
and much better than chasing clueless beacons that can be prevented.
