[aprssig] RFID

But at least we are aware when our credit cards are read, and know that a cell phone, when on, is connected to the network. RFID is passive until read, and short of a few layers of tin foil can't be disabled, shows no indication of having been read, and the components for a reader are freely available and inexpensive (as they should be). My car is older than this, so I don't know... is there even a disclosure of the RFID tag in the owners manual?

At least when you buy something in a store, the RFID tag is destroyed before you leave. Otherwise, every store's reader at every store you visit would be able to collect a complete inventory of everything you have in your bag (not to mention the ID of your car keys...).

p.s. the link to the article on Wikipedia about Cory's book needs to include the stuff in parenthesis
