You dont have to change a thing.  That has been my principle all along for the last 18 years of APRS, that is to ADD things that are always backwards compatible to what is out there already.  That makes sure that all users no matter what version they are running can see these new things.

Once the local RFID server softwware is written, and one copy is running in an area, then every existing user will see the RFID positions on the map just like they see others now.

Now all we need are good applications for them.
