Yes, absolutely.. I also cringe when encountering a digi at a serious 
com'l roof top site; the digi being a tnc, un-shielded cables, nothing 
mounted/ grounded, and a typical Icom, Kenwood, or Yaesu radio. No 
circulators, no ground kit on the coax, etc. Real sites deserve/ demand 
real commercial radios installed  properly. You'd be amazed how much 
better a digi can work with adherence to known installation practices.

"Commercial" guys don't do this for no reason and to waste money. They 
do it to get optimum performance out of their radio systems.

System is the correct word - all of it from the antenna to the wall cord 
must be done right.

Yup! Even a very basic one will serve to tell you that things are set up 
properly.
