My current favorite (for use in the US) is the Garmin Nuvi 350 along with
the Argent GRANS cable. This combination will you see APRS information
plotted on the GPS. You can also use the GPS for navigation.

Radio Shack currently has refurbished US versions of the Nuvi 350 on sale:
http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=nuvi%20350&origkw=nuvi%20350&sr=1

The GTRANS cable is available here:
https://www.argentdata.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=113&osCsid=f069110b53b7a9f5195942d328e3b506

There have been a lot of posts here on this combination -- just search the
archives for "nuvi 350"or "GTRANS" and you should find lots of information.

If you want a newer unit, you can use a Garmin GPS with the FMI interface to
send GPS data to the radio. See
http://wiki.argentdata.com/index.php?title=Garmin_FMI for more information
on compatible units.
