If you use your callsign with a valid passcode, APRS-IS is the place for you ;-). The APRS-IS server operators would prefer clients connect to second tier servers as the core servers tend to be running close to their maximum connections. I recommend you use a round-robin DNS name so you are not limited to a single server (redundancy, load-balancing, etc.). The aprs2.net network has a number of round-robin DNSes such as rotate.aprs2.net. There are others listed at www.aprs2.net.
