[aprssig] emergency beacon called wide1-1 today

Thanks for the effort. Is there someone in the MI area that could call his
home. I suspect it's a misconfigured device, and someone playing, but it
may not be. He has a listed phone number. I would call but am not familiar
with the area and if questions were asked I might not have answers.

I'm looking at http://www.db0anf.de/app/aprs/stations/mobile-N789PH which
shows him on what could be a downwind, short base, and final approach to the
Jerry Tyler Memorial Airport (see http://www.airnav.com/airport/3TR). It's
an uncontrolled (no tower) field in Niles, MI. I'm wondering if the plot is
off and he actually landed at the airport, or if the plot is correct and he
landed in the trees. His altitute started out at pattern altitude and ended
up at about ground level.

Did some googling around, plane and unit might belong to:

KD0CVN

Peter D Howell

1472 Iowa Ave West

ST Paul, MN 55108

That beacon was over a residential area - if he was in trouble and went
down, we'll know soon enough.

Possibly a misconfigured TT3.

That is an aircraft registration. There should still should be (to be legal)
a ham call associated with it. It you have a moving track on it, I doubt it
is an emergency although I have no idea as to policy on APRS as to emergency
beacons.
