I regret to inform the group that Wally Burkett W4KXV (formerly WA4KXV) passed away last night. He was a amateur's amateur and a hell of a nice guy. Not to mention a very close friend of mine.
I wanted to let this group know about his passing because he was a somewhat silent user of APRS and always enjoyed learning about the newest features. He owned the longest running digipeater in the Tidewater Area of Virginia (Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Suffolk and Portsmouth).
Periodically you would see his home station or RTrak pop up on the map, but over time saw them less and his health grew to the point where he could'nt drive anymore and he did'nt make it into the shack as often as he used to. He had an great collection of APRS gagets including an RTrak, Tracker2, TNC-X and a Kenwood D700. Although these thinsg saw limit use later on, he was always proud to have the latest toys to try out.
Regardless, his digi was always on the air to remind us that he was still APRS Active :o)
Wally, God bless, godspeed and I will miss you old friend!
