[aprssig] Is WXSVR Permanently Defunct???

It's been several weeks now since the stream of messages from "WXSVR"
that light up the National Weather Service shape file overlays on APRS
maps has stopped.

At first, I thought this was some sort of technical glitch or temporary
interruption. Now I am wondering if this is permanent. As I recall,
about a year ago, the sysop of WXSVR announced he was going to shut down
the server; then changed his mind a week or so later.

During the interruption, some discussion appeared on this list about
developing a replacement, but was dropped when WXSVR re-appeared.

Currently, I see that AE5PL is injecting APRS point objects and simple
APRS area objects for weather events into the APRS IS, but not the
control codes to "light up" the colored transparent "shape file"
overlays.

Is there any plan to resume the WXSVR shape file service?
