Even if you are not close to the Appalachian trail, you might be
able to see glimpses of the AT trail event via 2 mechanisms:

1) AT stations were invited to also operate a station under the
same call (SSID=0) on 144.39 for coordination.  See calls on
www.aprs.org/at-golden-packet.html

2) These 144.39 AT stations were encouraged to use the CQSRVR,
CQ AT CQ AT ... For group communicaitons.  Anyone else can logon
to CQSRVR with CQ AT MONITORING... And capture this traffic.
