Wow, can you track down a link or the author? I'd love to bend
his ear about how he could add a few things and really make APRS
available to all! I found the one DTMF decoding program noted
on my web page, but that author (in europe) did not seem to get
excited about the potential here...
So I'd love to find an alternate source and author!

All he would have to do is: instead of sending an Email, conver
the DTMF info into an APRS packet and send it on the APRS
