Not to mention that the state of California, in it's desperate search 
for revenue, is considering SELLING advertising space on the freeway 
message alert boards, to blast even more ads at you between accidents 
and amber alerts!  

Apparently, commercial interests are willing to replace the boring 
low-res white-bulbs-only matrix boards with fancy new full-color ones at 
no cost to the state,  if they can then put ads on them........

In other words, the other hand of the state is trying to encourage even 
more reading-while-driving!!
