[aprssig] Universal Text Messaging and SMS

We need experience with SMS and SMTP Email Systems:

The APRS Universal Text Messaging initiative is intended to
allow local/
global text messaging between amateur radio operators using any
device.
There are many people working on interfaces or gateways between
various subsystems and end user devices, and we already have the
one-way APRS ==> Email system working.

But the most critical system will be the reverse Email ==> APRS
gateway. The ability to send an SMS message or Email to
"CALLSIGN at ARRL.NET" and have that message gated over into the
APRS system for delivery to the end user. (or it could be
@AMSAT.ORG or @APRS.ORG etc?)

Several individuals are working this problem from the ground up
(see my
http://www.aprs.org/aprs-messaging.html web page) but I think we
also need a top down approach to make sure it all glues
together?

The coding for this system should be easy, but the challenge
will be
all the garbage, spam, and FCC filtering required to protect the

system from abuse. Are there any SMS experts who want to
weigh-in on this?
