Who is going to be accessing a computer in my locked car when I'm not in
it? Or who other than me is going to be accessing that computer when I'm
driving?
There has to be some logic here. The computer has limited physical
access, which is by far more secure than a password. And do you think a
Windows password is more than a minor impedement to an average hacker?
As has been pointed out, there is plenty of good information on the
Internet about car computers, which explains all the ins and outs of
setting them up. There is a whole cottage industry in providing
specialized products for car-puters, especially in DC-to-DC power supplies
which offer remote-on and soft-off functions. Many of the Mini-ITX
motherboards have a BIOS setting that forces the computer on after a power
loss.
One of my favorite mini-ITX boards is the Jetway J7F2 series.
