But will it be seen by any software that uses a GPS input? I sometimes like
to run DeLorme Topo instead of UI-View. Now that I have the D-710 that could
send out position reports and receive them on it's own while Topo gives us a
good mapping application would it not?

AFAIK, the GPS connected to the TM-D700 will also be seen by the APRS
software on the computer (e.g. UI-View) , when the D700 is connected
to the computer.
