Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear, the one that died wasn't a TH-D7..   It 
was a Kenwood TH-22AT..   1997-2008,  R.I.P.   :)

(doesn't power on at all, regardless of battery or external power..  
opened it up and can't find anything obvious so it could be any number 
of things)

Its what I get for talking up that model so much to new hams at field 
day, irony wins.
