[aprssig] APRS DOS a time for change?

I briefly looked at the SCS program but as I recall it was a very brief
look. As I remember it I was looking for screen shots of the program to see
if I wanted to download and try it. I'm of the mentality of not downloading
and installing every program that "might" do what I want for fear of
cluttering up my computer and registry. Viewing screen shots on a web site
for me goes a long way towards interesting me to try a program. I know it
may sound silly but I'm sure I'm not the only person who thinks this way. I
was never sure what the mapping interface would look like in this program so
I just moved on and stayed with what I already had.
If the SCS program does do what APRSDos will, then it deserves a better
look and promotion (maybe even by Bob himself) to get users on board.

Thank You,
Brian Webster N2KGC

Because I don't know how. So I released the source code years
ago with the hope that someone more talented than I in something
other than QBasic could do it.

My dream!

The closest attempt has been APRS-SCS, but after years of effort
by John, KB2SCS he reports only a few users and has pretty much
back-burnered it because of the issues with maps...

The XASTIR group also tries to get mosst of it implemented, but
then you have to run Linux to use it.

I think that pretty much summs it up. I keep crying over spilt
milk hoping to keep as many of the original concepts alive until
a fresh author comes up that has a few years of his spare time
that wants to tackle it.
