I use a RAM mount and a custom cable for the GPS and power connections,
described at

There's a short harness that stays with the radio and disconnects
at the DE9 - the lighter adapter and GPS harness stay in the
car (several cars have this setup).

SMA connectors have a fairly limited number of attach/detach
cycles in their lifetime, so I use a BNC adapter:

The whole setup is not as sanitary as I might like, but it works.
