I just receive a bit of info about the TXD, can anyone confirm this info?? here it is for what it's worth:

  Re: [TMD700A] Re: TXDdelay

The Hyperterminal settings are only used / read / in force when using a
computer and external program. As soon as you put the radio back into
internal APRS mode all those settings are ignored and it goes back to
its hardcoded TXDelay setting. There is no way, computer or faceplate,
to change the TXDelay setting used when you use the semi-unintelligent
  APRS built into the D700.

Basically, if your local APRS environment requires you to change the
TXDelay, then you will have to find a way to install a computer on your
motorbike, install an APRS program, and ignore the built-in APRS.

After reviewing the documentation on Kenwood's web site, it does appear
that they fixed this "bug" in their new radio, the D710. It's faceplate
menu system does allow limited changes to the TXDelay.

Thanks for that tidbit of info Bill, but what does that mean for me? Is there anything I can do? Flat audio vs sloped audio? Will putting more TXDelay help?

It is a half second and it is a very long time. Any equipment that
requires a longer TXD then 500 ms should be tuned with a 12 gauge...

The D700 uses flat audio. Most digi's probably use sloped audio with
standard pre-emphasis. Some times it will be enough "different" that
the digi won't decode the D700.
