I don't know if you can add a serial port to one, but the Buffalo 
WHR-G125, WHR-G54 and WHR-G54S are same/better hardware as the older 
Linux compatible Linksys units.  They are hackable, Buffalo endorses 
hacking, and even released their own version of a unit with DD-WRT on it.
