[aprssig] Dumb FindU question

OK, OK, OK.
I admit it. I'm pretty thick at times. I've been playing w/APRS for 5-6 years now with the D700.
FindU is really neat and Steve (nice name), and the others responsible (Bob etc.), deserves all
the kudos possible. BUT
How in the heck are you *supposed to* do a search on FindU ??
The position report page comes up with Steve on it. I have just been mungeing the URL in the
browser, substituting my call all these long years. Is this the *right* way ?? Other sites have
an "insert call here" text box. Is my hat on too tight, or sumptin' ?

Straighten out this poor wayward soul.

I've played around with many of Steve's cgis, figuring out the components of the URL to get other
things to happen. I even can do things like download ONLY the NWS radar W/position image (or
other individual images) so it loads fast on dialup without any other page stuff.

Also on the long term tracking page. See my recent (last 6 mo.) travels:
http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/track.cgi?call=k9dci-9&start=4406&geo=usa.geo

Note the lack if Digis in western Nebraska and South Carolina, on the coast north of Savanah where
I stayed. Bummer.

73, Steve, K9DCI-9

P.S. If I can get the other three versions (706xx, TS-2000, TH-F6A) cleaned up like I want, I
will be doing an Excel spreadsheet that does D700 control and memory management. One line (row)
per memory and all the power of Excel to Copy/Paste/Auto-increment, etc. !

P.P.S. I even have a method of semi-automatically entering PL frequencies into the 706 memories
via serial port. Cool to see it work after hours of keyboard work.

Yep! Excel does serial I/O... on a PC. (haven't tackled a Mac yet)

P.P.P.S. If questions, Email me @ arrl.net for faster response. I read that email more often.
