Actually, the lowest recorded temperature for mainland Australia (i.e.
excluding Antarctic territories) was back in 1994 at Charlottes Pass
(near Australia's highest mountain, Mt Kosciuszko) when the mercury
dipped to -23 Celsius.
For Queensland, the lowest recorded was -10.6 Celsius.
