If the paths absolutely had to be changed to the old settings, use the 
PM profiles in the D700s. Leave the "New-Paradigm" settings in your 
default, and program and of the five PM slots to the old settings. So 
when you relaly have to resort to them, it's a two-keypress operation, 
rather than dozens. The D7 is not as simple to switch, lacking the PM 
option. (This also comes in handy when visiting places that have both 
VHF and UHF APRS systems...WA and BC come to mind.)

I ran into this issue while in NC last month. The small-town digi was on 
the new paradigm, and the big-city wide-area digi (25 miles away) using 
RELAY instead of WIDEn-N, but oddly enough using SSn-N. Can't figure out 
the logic behind that move.
