When I was experimenting with 30m I searched the findu info for HF
gates near me.  Based on the VHF hops, this is probably the same gate
I was hitting.  The only thing identifying itself as an HF station
on findu in the right VHF area was W7CCY.

Unfortunately the GATE'ing station does not insert itself into the
path.  A human listener who caused a VHF-HF gate and then listened
for beacons might be able to identify the sending station's beacon.
