Yes, even though KPC-3's only trap 77,66,55 and 44's
you will notice from my statistics for the Wash DC area
that -not-one-single- packet with any kind of permutation
of anything above 3 has been received in months. This
is because enough distant digis are now trapping the
77,66,55,44's at the source and so they go nowhere.
Yep, it works. Bob

It's been a great thing for us in central SC as well. The local digi is
running javaaprs and is very strict in what it will digi... WIDE7-7, 6-6 5-5
4-4 get one hop, but they are fully depreciated on that one hop so it
protects the rest of the network of kpc3's that are not able to trap all the
permutations of 7-6 thru 7-1. Over in our neighboring town Columbia SC,
they seem to be running kpc3's as digi's and we still do get some of the
semi-depreciated stragglers in from NC, and FL when the band is open. I'm
still not _really_ happy with the limitations of the kpc3s for trapping high
N-N counts, but we seem to be doing the best we can with what we have....and
I'm thankful for the improvements we have seen. It's enough of an
improvement that the alt input digi concept is not as important to me as it
was 2 years ago.

We often have 10 to 20 seconds of silence down here.
Wes

Subject: [aprssig] New-N Paradigm Works!

Taking a fresh look at the local network last night I noticed that
the New-N Paradigm has made a tremendous difference.

80% WIDE2-2 or less!
11% are using W3...
9% are still using RELAY and WIDE. (was 80% in 2005)

This is the Washington/Baltimore area which is the highest
density APRS on earth. And with over 250 stations and
over 50 digipeters showing up in the area, the channel
still has some dead times of many seconds, sometimes as
many as 10 seconds between packets. (at ground level)
making it much easier to be heard and thus, better
reliability.

The real evidence is in the packet counts per hour per station:
Only a half dozen or less stations are hitting routine packet
counts of over 20/hr. Whereas before, we had probably
2 dozen stations with packet counts of 50 to 100/hr. All
caused by all the DUPES of the old RELAY and WIDE system.

The New-N Paradigm WORKS!
Spread the word...

Tell them to GOOGLE for "fix14439"
