And the preferred one... because as Steve says,
it is an APRS standard and lots of software supports it.

And we uses FINDU exclusively for our PCSAT's in 
Orbit and our Ocean APRS data buoys telemetry

Actually, it can be used for up to almost 10 bit precision.
The data values can go from 0 to 999 which is just shy 
of full scale 1024 for 10 bits...
