I wonder if there was a design change midway through production of
this unit. I have used the VC-H1 with NiMH cells with pretty good
results on a number of balloon flights of > 3 hours.
The batteries are put in the holder with the tops all in one
direction, which makes me think they are wired in parallel and using a
step-up voltage regulator.
