   From reading all the messages in this thread, I think that most users
are forgetting that most any home station (depending on their client) can
"gate" the RF traffic on the internet and don't have to hit an actual
Igate. The users in the mountainous areas can leave their stations up and
running and although they might not hit a digi, as long as their home
station can hear them or another digi.

  Case in point here in Tallahassee, the local Igate (at my home) can hear
local traffic as well as the two digi's serving this area, as well as the
folks traveling along Interstate 10 with RELAY,WIDE (they won't be
digi'ed) in their path and they are gated to the APRS-IS anyway.

  Just some food for thought....
