Gents, [[ long-ish ]]

I may have said that I am aware of the APRS bearing reporting, but that's the extent of my knowledge. That it exists along with the quality and s-meter info.

Don't know. If I have time I'll do a little looking, but
right now, I have only seen references to Xastir. I can't
  ven say it... (;-)

I don't DO C. Looks like gibberish to me (:-) I'm an RF
Engineer turned to the dark side (management).

VK3ZPF's Vector-Fox system basically plots a bearing line
with each push of a button and you see them all on the
map and do a mental intersection determination.

You got it. The calculation part is trivial, even with a
eighting factor (yea! Soze brain surgery...when you know how). You can get a cross hairs on a map and the GPS coordinates. With the info sent via APRS, anyone with the capability can grab the fixes and have his very own bulls-eye.

Out of curiosity, what *IS* your weapon(s) of choice?

  U didn't answer this Q...

Not familiar with 'em all... (:- (

I am now! Or will be shortly...

... Boy! I wish folks would remember to trim their posts.
This digest thing it a pain....

From: "Robert Bruninga" <bruninga at usna.edu>

... The distance field is important to limit the bearing
lines to only that area of interest and not infinitly long.
... This vastly improves the visibility of the maps ...
an observer looking at a 128 mile range scale map would
  see total gyberish,

As usual, Bob, a good idea. Right now my current proto
has variables for fix vector-length. If I get to where
I can put soft maps in (as opposed to just pasting a
GIF into Excel), This'll be a consideration.

P.S. because I have several takers on the spreadsheet,
I'll post the TS-2000 version in teh Files area, though
it is also in the Yahoo Group "ts2000_programming"
Files area. The one here has a few added comments
  in the instructions (sheet 1)
