The Windows-based freebie utility "PrintScreen" from Gadwin software at:
      http://www.gadwin.com

can also do this. It's a very flexible utility that can capture to
file, capture to clipboard or print (any or all of these) either the
entire desktop, or the currently-focused window. It can save into BMP,
GIF, JPG, PNG and several others. You can set it to automatically
resize the image to a specified size in pixels (or percent) as part of
the capture if desired.

Finally, it can be triggered either from the classic "PrntSc" key, or
from a command line, with arguments, which makes it callable from other
programs.

==========

Another utility that can do this is the indispensible "Swiss Army Knife"
of freebie graphics utiltities, IrfanView available at:

     http://www/irfanview.com

This single-exe Windows program (that is less than 1MB) can read
virtually any graphics file image known to man, and then save it into
any of the common (and many lesser) formats. In addition to the usual
resizing, file format conversions, cropping, color-depth reductions,
automatic slide shows, etc, IrfanView can be set to AUTOMATICALLY
capture a screen every so many seconds and write it to a sequentially
named file.

This is really neat for APRS demo purposes. You can capture the map
display of an APRS program every 30 secs or a minute or so, and then
later play the files back in sequence as a slide show (or assemble them
into a single animated GIF image file).

IrfanView can even assemble a sequence of image files (and sound
recordings if desired) into a single stand-alone self-running .EXE file
that contains a tiny version of it's player embedded internally. Really
nice for distributing demos to people without worrying about what
graphics or presentation software they may have on their systems.

Assemble 50-100 MB of images into an IrfanShow .EXE file, put it on a
CD-ROM along with a autorun file and you have a totally automatic
self-running slide show - just stick in a Windows CD-ROM or DVD drive.
