Why not?  It's not like they're hard to find.

In an extreme case, it may be the source of a disaster.  If you're  
trying to get upwind, it helps to know where it's at.

In another example, maybe you're launching a balloon on some public  
land in the neighborhood of such a facility, which would be a pretty  
good landmark.  IIRC, the UT guys did this a while back.
