HI All
Please read all of this E-Mail. Important information is
contained within.
aprs-scs 1.26 is now ready for your down loading pleasure.
Please please please if you already have aprs-scs installed on your
PC then use the
upgrade.zip file. No using aprsscsfull.zip and installing to another
directory. No using aprsscsfull.zip and installing on top of your old
version. The setup program and
Windows will not like this.
For those that will be using upgrade.zip please read the upgrade.txt
file that is inside
upgrade.zip
Upgrade.txt contains very important information on how to upgrade
aprs-scs.
It is a lot easier to upgrade from 1.25 to 1.26 then it was to
upgrade from 1.24 to 1.25
So please please please read upgrand.txt and do exactly what
upgrade.txt states.
Note aprs-scs does not work on Win2k. So if you are using win2k
please do not
try to install aprs-scs.
Aprs-scs works just fine with Win98 and WinXP.
What follows is the WhatsNew Please read all of the Whatsnew. It
explains the new Bitmap.txt file format
Version 1.26 some bugs related to the saving of aprs-scs by
registered users. some bugs related to the use of aprs-scs in the
Southern and Western the format of the Bitmap.txt file. To explain
here is an example. say you have a Bitmap named MYstreet.bmp then in
order to display this Bitmap as map in aprs-scs you would have to
copy the Mystreet.bmp file to the \aprsscs\bitmap Then in the
\aprsscs\bitmap directory you would have to create a text file called
Mystreet.txt. No tabs or any other funny characters just numbers
spaces. So far this is the same as 1.25 but the Mystreet.txt file has
a new format. user no longer has to supply a map range as the first
line in the file. APRS-SCS automatically computes and displays the
map range. the first line of the file becomes at top of map in
decimal degrees. at Left side of map in decimal degrees at bottom of
map in decimal degrees at right side of map in decimal degrees.
As always you can obtain aprs-scs at

Let us hope we never witness the "Silence Of The Hams"
