Tyler, this makes no sense.  The Kenwoods are not
holding anything back.  The APRS spec has provided
a new compatible way to provide 1 foot resolution and
has all kinds of free fields for future expansion.
You are being misslead by hype...  You name any 
feature you want and I can work up a way to do it in the
existing spec without having to break eveyrone else.

The spec is not stagnant.  It is being updated and kept
current all the time.  See APRS1.1 and APRS1.2 proposals.

Maybe because the Kenwoods are not the be all, end all of APRS devices.

So this logic leads me to believe the APRS will never grow beyond what 7-9
year old technology can implement. Wow..that sucks.

Oh we see it. We just don't accept your reality that Kenwoods must be
support at all costs.
