It just occured to me that I've got a box full of PS/2 female pigtails, cut 
from Deluo GPS units during the DB9 mod process.  I'll have to see if 
they're long enough for that.

Yep, no complaints.  It's also got an alphanumeric channel display.  The 
Alinco DR-135T looks more like what you'd expect from a ham rig, nice big 
display and everything, but the TM-271A looks more like a commercial rig, 
probably a little more rugged.  I've got mine modified so I can monitor our 
SAR channels.
