New-N progress in the USA is actually a bit better
than I reported. Most of the W and R digis are
not in the USA, and so the really only problems
we have are the old PacComm "T" digis that must
get changed as soon as we can.

Old style digis:
N 515 was (560) Old -N's that flood and bad timings
T 115 was (112) obsolete PacComm Trace digis
U 135 was (140) UIDIGI ROMS needing updating to "S"
  D 75 was (70) DIGI_NED needing updating to "S"
  R 95 was (90) obsolete RELAY. Change to WIDE1-1
  W 12 was (16) obsolete WIDE. Change to WIDE1-1

Here is the entire story on the PacComm DIGIS:

1) They can still be used by a simple remote SYSOP
command by simply putting WIDE1-1, WIDE2-2,
WIDE2-1, and WIDE3-3 in their four aliases.

2) BUT they must have a permanent IGate within
range so that all packets will get to an IGate. This
is because this fix, assures that the digi will at
least digipeat all users of WIDEn-N of 3 and below
but ONLY 1 HOP. (it will digipeat users of
WIDE1-1,WIDE2-N at least two hops only).

3) If there is no IGate in range, then these digis
should be upgraded to a new TNC or their
ROMS replaced with UIDIGI roms for the long
term. since they are then only serving as a one-hop
digi without the IGate.

Please also make all the other PATH, TIMING,
BEACONS, SYMBOL and TOCALL changes so
that we can tell what this digi is, and so it will
not QRM surrounding areas.

So progress has really slowed. Look at your map.
If there are R, W or T digis in your area, help the local
SYSOP to get them fixed. Fix all DIGIS so they show
 the proper:
1) type of TNC in the TOCALL
2) The proper SYMBOL and OVERLAY
3) the "Wn,SSn" capabilities in their beacons
4) beaconing mostly DIRECT
