Hi Bob..

Sorry, but a bit confused still, re the new n-N stuff etc, and dropping
support for the steerable digi's.  Pity, as that was a very nice idea.
Even more so, as it is sort of promoted as one of the more useful
features of APRS by Kenwood in their rig user manuals.

I thought I'd read here and elsewhere, that a starting path of wide3-3
for example, would just change as it gets passed on, with the ssid
decrementing to "blank" when it all expires.  Thereby keeping the packet
as short as possible.  Otherwise, it's not much different to the huge
routing strings that seem to occur when the likes of Tracen-n is used?

Or, as usual and likely, have I missed the point again...

As to PHG circles.  Nice in principle, but in many places ("non flat"
territory etc) you just do not get anywhere near a circular coverage, so
in many places, it would be very misleading to users.  I guess you could
segment the circle, but that needs even more info sent.

It would also need people to actually understand the RF parts of the
system again.  Sadly, many (not all it has to be said) new licensees,
who are often the ones most interested in APRS are no more than
"operators" not wishing to know the in's and out's of how it all works,
or could work for that matter.
