	Did you ever get enough interest in your modem replacement idea for the
Alinco to move forward with it? If you do produce one I would be inclined to
buy one of the radios just for this purpose.

But blaming it on the buffer doesn't make sense either.  KISS frames get
passed to the serial port with no flow control (according to the spec
anyway), and the only overhead is some framing and escape characters.
Converse mode expands callsigns, adds carriage returns, and so forth - it
has MORE data to send to the serial port than in KISS mode!

Or is the buffer problem only when sending?  Either way, it's just poor
programming if that makes it crash.  My Packet Shooter firmware was written
in an evening, after two beers, and it doesn't care at all if you shove too
much data at it.  It just drops what it can't handle.
