Below are a few guide lines to follow before you get started using
UI-View32
and entering into the world of APRS. Also, whether or not your using
UI-View32 the "New n-N Paradigm" parameters apply to ALL facets of APRS
hardware and software alike.

If you're an old hat with ARPS or just getting your feet wet the first
time, please do NOT use the the UNPROTO paths suggested in the UI-VIEW
"HELP file" (F1). These settings pertain to Europe and aborad. Never
ever
use RELAY,WIDE,WIDE or RELAY,WIDE,WIDE,WIDE! This creates way to much
QRM
on the channel (144.390). In other words we in the ARPS community and
Digipeater owners do NOT wish to see stations digipeated 200+ times
across
the country.

Using these type of settings will hender Emergency type of
communitcations
when the need arises. Because these stations are congesting the Network
with
useless and unnecessary UNPROTO paths.

Please use the following settings for Mobile stations:

APRS,RELAY,WIDE2-2 or APRS,RELAY,WIDE3-3

For fixed stations use:

Use the nearest digipeater APRS,XX#XXX-10,WIDE2-2 or
APRS,XX#XXX-10,WIDE3-3 (replace XX#XXX-10 with nearest digipeater
callsign)). If you do not know what the nearest digipeater is, then use
the mobile
settings above. Once you've determinded which digi is closest to you,
change RELAY to that callsign.

Also, do not use TRACE in the UNPROTO path, this is now obsolete and
being
dropped as digipeaters are updated in accordance with the "New n-N
Paradigm"
parameters.

Please refrain from using WIDE5-5 thru WIDE7-7 unless you live in a very

remote area, say like DEATH VALLEY.
