I can see it now.  You turn on your D-7 and send a posit and for the next 
30 minutes or more the network is totally clogged as an IGATE  attempts to 
deliver the MSG's it has accumulated for the last 7 days.

APRS=REAL-TIME LOCAL TACTICAL   (over an hour old forget it.)

A cellphone is much more useful for short text messaging anyway.  Why do we 
need/want to make APRS emulate a cellphone.

Me thinks tis a bad idea.
