It should be 4800 bps.  It COULD be 9600, but I doubt it.

What I'd do is I'd put the 5V on Pin 4 and plug it into a computer with 
Hyperterminal (or something similar) and see if I see NMEA then.

Or I'd hold down F on the D700 and go into P.MON and see if there are NMEA 
frames in the debug.
