I'll agree with everyone else; With the D700, you get two radios and a TNC and
an APRS display.

The Cross-Band repeater is a nice thing for working events - an HT on low
power will run much longer than it does on high power.

Compare the radio to a dual-band, dual-receive radio + TNC. I found the cost
is very close in this comparison.
